Food #2: Excessive Dairy Products
The Dairy–Prostate Connection
Milk, cheese, and other dairy products are staples in many diets—but excessive dairy consumption has raised concerns in prostate health research.
Dairy may influence prostate risk through:
- Increased insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1)
- Hormonal effects
- Inflammatory responses
IGF-1 promotes cell growth—and excessive stimulation can be problematic for prostate tissue.
Research Observations
Some population studies have found associations between high dairy intake and:
- Increased prostate enlargement
- Higher prostate cancer risk in certain groups
This doesn’t mean dairy must be eliminated entirely—but overconsumption may be harmful.
Healthier Alternatives
- Reduce full-fat dairy intake
- Choose plant-based milk alternatives
- Focus on calcium from leafy greens, nuts, and seeds
