Why Baking Soda Affects Cockroaches
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) reacts with acids.
Cockroaches have acidic digestive systems. When they ingest baking soda, a chemical reaction occurs inside their body that produces gas. Because cockroaches cannot release gas efficiently, this internal pressure can be fatal.
This makes baking soda a useful non-spray, low-odor option for cockroach control.
Important Clarification (Very Important)
Baking soda is not an instant killer like chemical insecticides.
It works gradually and best as part of a consistent approach.
Think of it as:
- A control method
- A population reducer
- A preventive tool
Not a magic overnight solution.
