6. Referred Pain From the Lower Back

The hip and lower back share nerves.

This means pain felt in the hip may actually originate from:

  • Lumbar spine
  • Herniated discs
  • Nerve compression

Signs of referred pain include:

  • Pain radiating down the leg
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Pain that changes with posture

In these cases, treating the hip alone doesn’t solve the problem.

7. Weak Core Muscles

The core stabilizes the pelvis.

When core muscles are weak:

  • The hips compensate
  • Joint stress increases
  • Movement becomes inefficient

This often leads to hip pain during:

  • Walking
  • Lifting
  • Turning

Core weakness is common and often underestimated.
