What a Large or Prominent Lunula Might Suggest

A larger lunula is often seen in:

  • People with faster metabolism
  • Those with strong nail growth
  • Individuals with good peripheral circulation

In rare cases, unusually large lunulas may be observed alongside:

  • Hyperthyroid states
  • Increased metabolic activity

Again, this is not diagnostic on its own.

Other colors can appear, usually temporarily.

Bluish or Grayish
