Symptom #4: Nighttime Headaches or Head Pressure
What It Feels Like
- Headaches that wake you from sleep
- Pressure at the back of the head
- Morning headaches that fade after waking
Why It Matters
Nighttime or early-morning headaches may be linked to:
- High blood pressure during sleep
- Oxygen deprivation
- Changes in cerebral blood flow
Blood pressure should naturally drop at night. If it doesn’t (a condition called “non-dipping blood pressure”), stroke risk increases.
Symptom #5: Sudden Night Sweats Without Fever
What It Feels Like
- Waking up soaked in sweat
- Needing to change clothes or sheets
- Occurring without illness or room heat
Why It Matters
Unexplained night sweats may indicate:
- Hormonal imbalances
- Autonomic nervous system stress
- Cardiovascular strain
- Blood sugar instability
While not specific to stroke alone, when combined with other symptoms, night sweats may reflect vascular stress that deserves evaluation.
