Pre-washing not only takes time and wastes water, but also prevents you from fully utilizing your appliance’s capabilities. And for good reason: when you rinse your dishes, you assume they won’t stain.
However, dishwashers operate at high temperatures to ensure that dishes are perfectly clean at the end of the wash cycle.
Hot water with detergent is responsible for cleaning dishes, not the pre-rinse.
If you develop this habit, you’ll limit your dishwasher’s capabilities while wasting a valuable resource: water. Simply scrape the dishes without rinsing them, then put them in the dishwasher to rinse.
