Variation 1: Extra-Crispy Panko Fried Fish
Ingredients (changes only)
- Instead of batter:
- ½ cup flour
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 1½ cups panko breadcrumbs
- Season flour and panko with spices.
Instructions
- Dredge fish in flour → dip in egg → coat in panko.
- Fry at 350°F for 3–4 min per side until crispy.
This gives a lighter, crunchier Japanese-style crust.
Variation 2: Beer-Battered Fried Fish
Replace the water in the classic recipe with cold beer.
Beer makes the batter airy and extremely crispy.
